Sweater love

I knitted this sweater in no time. Even spun the yarn in no time. I just loved the pattern so much, the stitch pattern was easy and fun to knit, and the ever changing colors of the handspun singles just kept med going and going..
Image
The yarns (because there are two yarns) are: Handspun singles, Noro-look-alike-yarn, spun pretty fast from carded wool/silk/alpaca-fibers in colorway “Delight”. The other yarn (the top of the sweater body and sleeves) is BFL-Steps, my handdyed sock yarn. The latter held double.
The pattern I found in Noro Magazine #2. It’s called “Mesh banded pullover”.

I am really happy with this garment. It fits perfectly and is not too hot to wear indoors. Love it!

Unique colors

Lately I have been dyeing some one-of-a-kind colorways on my sock yarn BFL-Steps.
For socks you only need 1 skein and it’s always fun to knit – and wear! – a pair that is completely unique.

Take a look at my two latest OOAK- sock yarns here. You can find more in the webshop. Now, I’ll go and knit some special socks for myself.. 🙂

Malabrigo Silky Mittens

After knitting the mittens for my daughter, I decided that I would make a pair for myself, but with a different cable pattern and in a new-to-me yarn. After all, it was October, and the mornings were getting a bit chilly.

Now it’s already November, and I’m sure to keep my hands warm in these cabled mittens:Cabled mitts in Malabrigo silky Merino

The pattern is up for sale in my webshop. Danish version only, for the time being.

The yarn is also to be found in my webshop. Malabrigo Silky Merino is a wonderfully soft singles yarn, 51% merino wool and 49% silk. Knits on needles 3,5 to 4 mm. There are 17 beautiful hand painted semisolid color ways to choose from!

The cable pattern was easy to knit.

I have used the color named “Jupiter” for my mittens, and I used only one skein.

Mittens for my girl

Winter is approaching. Leaves are falling now, and it is getting colder. The motherly urge to keep my offspring warm and cosy has resulted in these cabled mittens:

My teenage daughter is very happy about them! I have made a pattern to download (in Danish only, for the time being) – check out the “pattern”-tab in the top menu.

The mittens are knitted using two strands of Opus BFL yarn. Wonderfully soft and warm, and a quick and easy project!

The colors!

I love them all.. All of my semisolids, or monochromatic, colorways. I have added more new colorways over the summer and now there’s more than twenty of them.

I even updated the page here to show all the monochromatics. Take a look, you’ll find the tab in the top menu.

I’m happy to take orders, you know.. 🙂  The colors can be dyed on my yarns or my fibers – your choise! Please also take a look at my webshop to see what’s on the shelves right now.

The “Citron” is done!

I added a sixth section to the shawl, because I had plenty of yarn and I really would like the shawl a little wider than the 80 centimeters. The extra band gave me a finished width of 130 centimeters, which is a perfect size, I think!
My Citron looks like this:

I like it very much!

Citron. A slice in Danish. Or something..

“Citron” is a beautiful shawl by Hilary Smith Callis. It is not a new pattern, but published in Knitty Magazine, in the Winter 2009 issue.

I have been eyeing this shawl for ages, and a few months ago I even spun some merino/cashmere lace yarn with Citron i mind.

The beginning of “Casino Citron”. A very pleasant knitting project

In the Danish Spinning Guild, Spindeforeningen, we are going to have a SAL/KAL next month, and I am to “host” it, or kick start it.. So I thought it might be a good idea if I was a little ahead of things, and cast on for my “Casino Citron” last week.

But first I translated the pattern into Danish, and asked permission from the designer to publish the Danish version. Through Ravelry the pattern is available in I think at least 10 different languages, but Danish is not one of them..
Hilary has now kindly given me permission to publish the Danish version in my blog and link it to the Ravelry database – yay! Not that the English pattern in any way is difficult to follow or understand, but my guess is that some of our guild members will be reluctant to work from directions given in English.

So, thank you very much, Hilary! 🙂
– I’ll set up the pattern page very soon, but first I’m going to grab some dinner: veggie lasagna, mmmm..

Donau. A short cardi in handspun yarn

Yesterday I finished this:

Tone in "Donau".
Tone in “Donau”.

This is my sweet daughter Tone modelling “Donau”, my new handspun cardigan.

From behind. I like the way the colors flow..

She is a size XS, and the cardigan fits her perfectly! It’s now up to me to calculate the stitch and row numbers for other sizes (S, M, L and XL), and to write the pattern for the webshop. It is a very simple construction, so that won’t be a too much of a problem, I’m sure. I guess I’ll need to test knit at least one of the larger sizes, just to be sure that I’m not completely off track, and to get a feeling of the amount of yarn that is to be used for the larger sizes..

It is knitted in welt-pattern using a needle size 6 mm (US size 10), so it was a quick knit. Nice, for a change..

The yarn for Donau is the result of a monthly challenge that is going on over on Ravelry, in the Danish Spinner’s Group.
The theme this month was “An der Schönen blauen Donau” (On the Blue Danube), and I was immeditately inspired to haul down five differne colourways from the shelves: Cougar, Icarus, Rhodos, Glittertind and Sailor. Here they are:

Colors: Sailor, Glittertind, Rhodos, Icarus and Cougar
Colors: Sailor, Glittertind, Rhodos, Icarus and Cougar

I combined the colous to make 10 different skeins, bulky singles yarn. It was a quick spin, and very enjoyable!

Spinning and knitting heavy singles

I needed a quick-and-easy, but still good-looking, project. So I picked out five of my handpainted wool tops, combined the colours in a most complicated (not!) way and began the spinning..

20130617-145040.jpg
The final yarn is wonderful! Heavy, multicolour, and ten different skeins.

For the knitting project I decided on a short jacket or cardi, to be held together with one or maybe two buttons. Negative ease, tight fit. The fabric is very stretchy, so I think my idea will work fine!

20130617-145346.jpg
Right now I am working on the first sleeve, so hopefully I’ll soon be finished. The yarn knits up quickly on needles 6 mm. Love it so far!

I also dug deep in the pile of unfinished projects today.. Surfaced with something that is meant to become a blanket for my son. A stash-busting throw for his bed. In mitered square modules. Sat down and knitted a bit. Decided that I really need more blue yarns, so now I have fired up this little Cascade spindle and some royal blue fiber..

The weather is fantastic, so I’m working out in the back yard today.. 🙂
